Michigan and Ohio

The families behind the beef.

Our beef is raised by Amish families on small farms in Michigan and Ohio. They raise cattle the way their grandparents did, and they sign our standard before a single animal carries our name.

Amish farmhouse and lane

The standard, signed by every farm

Amish raised
Grass-raised, grain-finished
No added hormones
No antibiotics

We put each line in writing and each farm signs it. If a farm cannot sign it, we do not buy its beef. That is the whole rule.

Why you will not see their faces

Amish families do not pose for photographs, and we will not ask them to. You will see their land, their barns and their cattle. The names on the beef are the farms', shared with each family's permission.

How the farms are paid

Every farm is paid a published market price plus a premium on every animal, on the day it is picked up. When beef sells well, part of that goes back to the farm that raised it. Good farms stay with us because it pays to.

USDA inspection

Every animal is processed at a USDA-inspected plant. That is what allows beef to be sold by the cut and shipped across state lines, and it is why we can send a box to Columbus as easily as to Flint.
